Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of visiting Morumbi Stadium, home to the Sao Paulo Futbol Club. I’m not a very big soccer fan. In fact, out of respect for my soccer aficionado friends, I can’t call myself a fan at all. Nonetheless, I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit a soccer game in Brazil.
I was accompanied by quite a few people including GSE team members from Brazil who were recently in Los Angeles, the district GSE chair, miscellaneous relatives, and of course, my GSE team.

SIDEBAR: Honda has a car in Brazil called the City, which I would absolutely buy were it available in the states.

Back to the subject.

Before we entered the actual game, we visited the stadium’s restaurant, a relatively quiet, dimly-lit buffet built into the stadium’s underground.

After lunch, we visited the trophy hall, which was even bigger than the one in Santos.

Then, it was on to the actual game.

It was a very entertaining game. Ball went back and forth quite a bit, and there were tons of exciting plays and shots on goal. Despite the fact that the stadium was practically empty (last game before the World Cup begins), there were over 14,000 people in attendance. Santos won 3-1, defeating Gremio.
While it wasn't as exciting or enlightening as the rest of my trip, it was still a memorable, albeit grueling day. We got up early, moved out of the house we were previously in, sat in a van for a bumpy hour and a half, picked everyone up, attended the game, dropped everyone off at home, drove for another bumpy two hours to Guaruya, and finally moved into our new homes.
In my next blog entry, I’ll tell you all about my time in Guaruya. I promise I’ll have a lot more to talk about.
WHAT UP SCRATCH.
